(1)The Delhi government hopes to start issuing regularisation
certificates to unauthorised colonies from mid-Auguest. To
 begin with, 1,018 colonies, which have got clearances from all
agencies concerned, will be given certificates. Of the
  total 1,639 illegal colonies, 1,218 were given  provisional
certificates in 2008. Of these, 1,018 colonies got no-

(2)For the first time, the NIA will identify all four alleged
Samjhauta Express bombers-Kamal Chauhan, Lokesh Sharma,
   Amit alias Ashwini chauhan and Rajendera pehalwan alias Samander-in
it supplementary chargesheet which will be filed
   soon. Of these, four right-wing extremists, Kamal and Lokesh have
already been arresrted while Amit and Samandar are on
   the run. All the four belong to Madhaya Pradesh and were associated

(3)Haryana Police have registered an FIR against 50 people for
atteacking a contigent of Delhi Police, which had on Monday
   gone to a Palwal village to arrest a criminal named salli. "Of
these 50 accused, 19 people, including the criminal's
   mother, have been named in the FIR. But till now no arrests have

(4)The fact that Delhi is unsafe for women has been well documented.
But according to the NCRB data, the city, it seems, is
  not safe for children either. The data says that 33,098 cases of
crime against children were reported in 2011 as compared
  to 26, 694 cases in 2010. This amounts to a 24 percent rise in
crimes against children. Of these, 5,500 cases were regis
  tered in Utter Pradesh, 4,388 in Madhya Pradesh and 4,250 in

(6)More than a thousand 'blind spots' descend into darkness when the
sun sets on the Capital. Located near, or in, residential
 colonie, schools, colleges, and Metro stations, residents avoid these
roads out of fear and the police tread with caution.
 A survey by Delhi Police across 161 police stations revealed that at
least 1,568 areas either donot have functional streelights or no
  streetlights at all. Of these blindspots, 280 lie in southwest
Delhi, East and outer Delhi have 251 and 223 such spotsn respectively.
  HT suryed many of these locations after sunset and not only found
them in deep  darkness, but even bereft of police presence.

(7)The passports of Nithyananda and a Tamil actress he is accused of
raping have been seized from a man at the Capital's Indira
  Gandhi International Airport even as the self-styled godman in one
way to Mount Kailash in Tibet via Nepal. The customs department
  seized 32 passports in all from Nitin Kaushik on Tuesday evening. Of
these, 30 are belived to be of Nithyananda's supporters.

(8)Mobile pohone towers near school buildings and hospitals are likely
to be sealed from next week keeping in mind their ill-effects
   on children and patients, the South Corporation has ordered. As per
the report of the then commissioner of thee erstwhile MCD, there
   were 5,364 mobile phone towers in its area on April 2010. Of these,
2,412 towers were authorised and 2,952 unauthorised. In the last
   two years, many more such towers have illegally cropped up all over

(9)The kitchen cloth used in most Indian households is highly
contaminated with the bacteria that have the potential of causing
food-borne
   diseases, a study has found. shockingly, the study by the Global
Hygiene Council found the kitchen cloths to be the dirtiest items in
homes.
 As part of the study, 150-odd women were asked to prepare a stir-fly,
a salad adna a children's lunch box. This causes cross-contamination
in the
  kitchen. About 95% of the kitchen taps failed the hygiene test,
making in the second dirtiest item in the households. Of these, 85%
were found to be
  contaminated with E coli. Contaminations were found on 92% chopping

(10)Thirty-eight fresh dengue cases were reported on Thursday, taking
the total number of cases to 1,315 in the national capital. Of these,

  people are from outside Delhi. South Delhi is the worst hit. Nearly
500 cases  have been reported from the South Delhi Municipal
Corporation
  areas alone. More than 900 caes were reported in October, the peak
season for mosquito-borne disease. So far, three children have died of
the dengue
