(1)The new public and private partnership policy woulld apply to all
governments that do not have the resources
to maintain the stadiums. According to the sports ministry,
infrastructure worth 10,0000crore developed
for the Commonwelth Games in Delhi and National Games in Ranchi-is at
rise of going waste due to the lack
of maintenance. On an average, the ministry received 1,000 core in the
last budgets, with a very small
amount being allocated for maintenance of sports

(2)air passengers using chartered flights to arrive at or fly out of
Delhi had a harrowing time on wednesday when the
air space over the capital was close for five hours for non-scheduled
operators due to the President's swearing-in
ceremony. a large number of chartered flights were delayed and many
delayed and many diverted to other airports. this is the
third time ina week that chartered flights have faced problems due to
closure of the airspace. On average, the indira gandhi
International Airport handles 40 to 80 chartered flights every

(3)At least 250 people have been caught driving drunk in the first
four days of the "late night vigil" launched by the traffic
 police last weeekend. Most of the drivers were nabbed from areas
around popular pubs. On an average, 47-odd people are acted
  against in a day for driving drunk. The figure for the night drill

hardly enough to make  for the lack of rainfall
  in Delhi this year. So far, the capital has witnessed a 57%
deficiency in rainfall, with only169.5 mm of rain received since
 june 1. Last year, during the same period, Delhi received 400mm of
rain-10mm more than the average of 390 mm. On an average,
  delhi receives 644mm of rainduring monsoon recorded between june 1
and september 30. Last year, the city received 107%rain,
  more than twice as much as this year's figure so

(5)The real estate development in Noida and Greater Noida has led to a
huge housing boom in the twin cities.But there is
    a flip side: it has taken a heavy toll on the water table of the
region. although the industrial townships are situated
   in a water-surplus region- Noida falls in the catchment area of the
Yamuna river and lies close to the Hindon river-mindless
 extraction of groundwater for construction work is causing
irreparable damage to the water table. Expert say, on an average, a
 developer extracts 2 lakh litres of water a day. With more than 200
big ticket projects coming up in Noida and Greater Noida,

(6)The Delhi unit of the BJP on Saturday said it would launch a
state-wide agitation if all illegal colonies in the city were not
   regularised as they are and without payment of any development or
regularisation charges. vijendar gupta , leader of the opposition
   in the state assembly, said they would demand from the centre that
all the 1,639 unauthorised colonies be regularised as they are so to
  benefit 50 lakh "people living in hellish conditions" in these
settlements. "On an average, each plot owner has to pay up 8 to 10
lakh
 rupees by way of development/ regularisation charges. People have
already  spent a lot in buying land from farmers before the government
  acquired it. Low income group people cannnot pay this much," Malhotra said.
