(1)ONGC in partnership with other government firms plans to invest
3billion to explore oil and gas in Venezuela said
    Jyotiraditya Scindia, minister of state for commerce and industry,
on Wednesday. ONGC Videsh Ltd which has already
    invested 350million, intends to invest an additional 500 millionin
the San Cristobel oil field in South American
    country. In addition to this, OVL along with other state run oil
and gas firms like IOL and OIL INDIA proposes to
  invest 2.2 billionin the Carobodo project, taking the total proposed

(2)Mircrosoft Corp on Tuesday announced a 6.2% billion charge to write
down the value of an online advertising agency it
  bought five years ago. In addition to the write down, Microsoft said
its expectations for future growth and profitability
  at its online services unit which include the Bing serch engine and
MSN Internet portal-are" lower than previous

the reins in Lucknow, the Metro expansion pland was
    changed and connectivity to Noida Extension became a priority. In

(4) Auto-rickshaw fares in the city are likely to increase with the
auto unions demanding a review of the existing rates.
    The Delhi transport department has  decided to meet
representatives of the unions on Thursday to hear out their demands
and
   suggestions. The auto unions  have been demanding a fare hike after
the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) was increased
   , and  the Delhi government refused to roll back the hike. In
addition to this, unions claim that even though the Supreme
     court had directed the transport department to issue 45,000 new
permits to run new auto-rickshaws in the city, Delhi govern

(5)Flood with complaints regarding inflated bills, Delhi chift
Minister  Sheila Dikshit has directed the power departments to address
  the issue.  According to sources, Dikshit has asked the distribution
companies to examine their billing system as a number of people
  have complained about inflated bills. Power tariff for domestic
consumers was hiked by a steep 26 percent in June. The new tariff
  came into effect from July 1. The delhi government has also chalked
out a power plan to meet the demand for next year's summer season.
   In addition to this, Uttar Pradesh has provided land to Transco
limited to construct six towers for the Maharani bagh-Ghazipur line.

(6)With no signs of the economic slowdown abating, the Planning
Commission has trimmed the funding for India's socio-economic
development
   for the 12th plan. the panel now projected 27,10,840 crore funding
for the 12th plan allocation, as against the earlier estimate of
35,00,
  ,000 crore. the final allocation willl be decided at a meeting by
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday. In addition to the slowdown
, the government's inability to reduce its subsidy burden because of
political compulsions is yet another reason for the plan not being
  able to spare huge funds for the social sector.
