punctuation IN OTHER WORDS

(1)While the international Atomic Energy Agency calculates that Iran
is adding 8 kg of 20% uranium every month, Israeli
estimates put it between 10-12kg a month. Around 220 kg of 20%
enriched uranium is required before it can be enriched
further to weapons grade for a nuclear device. At the current pace,
Iran would reach that target by the end of 20112, if
not earlier, say experts. In other words, by the end of the year, Iran
could have the capability to make a bomb.

(2)To India it was clear-the more the US-Pakistan relationship
ruptured, the more the pressure would be cranked up on
Islamabad for the absense of concrete deliverbales in the 26/11
trial. But now that a preciously phrased, but brutally
negotiated US apology-coming after seven months of refusing to say
sorry-has plastered a small bandage across a still
bleeding equation, we must ask if the converse is also true. In
other words, just as we are celebrating how american
pressure on Saudi Arabia led us to Abu Jindal-the critical Indian
connection to the 10 terrorists who declared
war on Mumbai.(source-Hindustan Times Saturday, July 07, 2012)

(3)In the last three years, home loan equated monthly
installments(EMIs) have only gone up. Home EMIs cannot be compromised,
so the
budget is squeezed by cutting down on usual monthly expenses and
even on items such as clothing and consumer durables. In other words,
higher prices and the need to find additional money for EMIs have
forced a cut down on purchases of televisions and cars.

(4)China has come to be known for its skill in duplicating just about
any object of consumer manufacture. It can confront and stun the
original with its identical twin. India, on the other hand, is
known for the ingenious arts of improvisation and contrivance.
In other words, for its knack of extracting from next-to--nothings
and just-about-anything something of value, howsoever flimsy and

(5)The BJP-led NDA governs nine states in India today, but in this
club of provincial leaders it is yet to find a First among Equals
. The congress knows who its leader is-but that doesnot increase
the chances of success. truth is -both national parties are in crisis
mode. A fractured polity, a cynical electorate and a failure to
inspire or generate. hope has made the pan-indian leader a
near-extinct
species. Vajpayee was perhaps the last such Pan-Indian
personality in contemporary politics, which explains why after years
of being
out of the public eye, he still does so well in all polls on
prime ministerial favourites. In other words, even if 2014 were to see
a
direct contest between Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi-which is
extremely unlikely-personalities no longer have the charisma or depth
to define he heft to national politics.(source-Hindustan Times

(6)Mr Modi may have done well to hold his sadbhavna fasts. But, he has
yet to make even a symbolic gesture to the minority community that
would
go some way towards soothing hurt sentiments. On the contrary, Mr
Modi has not expressed regret over what happened on his watch. there
is much
to gain from the healing touch all around. It would give victims the
reassurance that their sentiments are valued, and it would be an ideal
brand building exercise for Mr Modi. In other words, small gesture
could mean big dividends in the still polarised state.

(7)In truth, what was regarded as the PM'S strongest trait-an
indisputable personal decency-has now come to conflated with his
biggest
weakness-a timidity of style that prevents robust
decision-making. While even today his shapest critics do not question
the PM's
personal integrity, decency is no longer acceptable as a
substitute for inaction. Leader, in any case, are measured by the
strength
of their convictions and what they stand for. They are not
evaluated or emulated on the basis of what they are not. In other
words,
the PM not being corrupt- a generally accepted fact-is not a
leadership descriptive or something to remember his tenure by.

(8)Spain has become the forth EU country to be bailed out. A 100
billion bailout plan has been approved by European finance leaders
Spain has
already spent 15 billion to bailout its smaller banks. The European
Financial Stability Facility has a corpus of 440 billion. It has
already
given bailout  loans of 18 billion to Ireland, 26billion to Portugal
and 145 billion to Greece. With its bailout for Spain, the remaining
corpus would be only 30% of thee envisaged lending capacity of 500
billion for the European stability mechanism, which is slated to come
into
effect by July 1. In other words, the eurozone crisis can only
worsen and threaten the EU itself.(source-Hindustan Times Tuesday June

(9)Most of today's rich  countries have an agrarian past; 200 years
ago most of their population was engaged in agriculture-related
activities.
As they developed, new activites in industry and services emerged
and a greater part of the labout forced moved to industry and
services.
However, this could not have happened unless those who remained in
agriculture produced at least as much food as before. In other words,
the
movement of labour out of agriculture could not have taken place
unless the productivity of farmers had improved correspondingly.

(10) In a major relieft to allottees in Greater Noida- which also
covers the proposed realty of Noida extension-the authority
on Monday said the period during which construction was halted would
be treated as "zero period". In other words, no interest
would be charged from allotees on unpaid installments during this
period. Construction in Noida Extension-where 2.5lakh flats
are planned and one lakh booked -and elsewhere in Greater Noida has
been frozen for more than eight months now after an
Allahabad High Court ruling October last year.(source-Hindustan Times
