(1)The IPG, the pilot association leading the agitation, said all its
members had reported back for work. "In the meeting,
  the AI officials expressed their inability to provide any commitment
on the reinstatement of pilots and on any other

(2)A week after the two successive gird failures, which had affected
over 600 million people in the contry, Union power minister
Moily met Prime Minister Dr Manmohan singh on Monday evening and
submitted a detailed action plan to avert similar collapses in
 the future. Soon after his meeting with chieft ministers and power
ministers of northern states, Moily briefed the PM on the
 new grid discipline measures which have been put in place. In his
meeting with the PM, the first after assuming charge as the
power minister on June 31, Moily also briefed the PM about the
resolutions passesd on stricter grid discipline for states, which
includes heavy penalties for overdrawing power from the

(3)Wanting to put an end to Parliament logjam on the issue of coal
block allocations, the SP has pitched in strongly for a
    discussion on Prime Minister Manmohan singh's statement on the
issue.  With political parties including CPM, BJD, DMK,RJD
   and TDP joining issue with the SP's position at today's meeting of
the Lok Sabha Business Advisory committee(BAC), Speaker
   Meera Kumar accepted the demand and alloted time of four hours for
discussions on the Prime Minister's statement on Tuesday.
    At the BAC meeting, the JD(U) representative- a constituent of the
NDA-is understood to have expressed favour discussion,
   while clarifying that his party would go along with the decision
taken all the NDA partners.

(4)To catch property owners who shy away from paying taxes, the North
Delhi Municipal Corporation will start numbering the
  properties in its area. Currently, the corporation does not have a
database of the number of properties liable to pay tax, which
 is leading to huge loses to its exchequer. At a special meeting,
Mahendar Nagpal, Leader of the House, said that it is imperative
 for the corporation to collect tax on all properties if it wanted to

(5)The hazards posed by radiation emitted by cell phone towers has
caught the attention of Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit who
 convened a meeting on Wednesday to chalk out an action plan. All
three municipal corporation, enviroment, department, Delh chief
  secretary and health department officials were present in the
meeting. In the meeting, Dikshit said that the issue has to be
addressed

(6)Though the unpredictable Trinmool Congress has often absented
itself from crucial meetings of the combine, it has promised to
regularly
  attend meetings of the UPA cordination committee. Though the
Trinmool has announced that it would go it alone in the Bengal
panchayat
  polls, the congress is not worried. If their calculations from the
previous elections are anything to go by, Banerjee will need the
  Congress's assistance to defeat the Left front in the 2014 general
elections. At the last meeting, Banerjee raised obejctions on FDI
  being imposed on certain sectors, and expressed concern over other

(7)PM Manmohan Sigh set the stage for a second term for Vice-President
Hamid Ansari at the UPA's meeting on Saturday. Singh briefed
  the coalition leaders on his talks with different parties during the
past few days and announced that there is a broad consensus
  on Ansari's candidature. At the end of the meeting, some leaders
walked up to Roy to privately ask him about his party's possible
stand.

(8)The BJP and the left will bring a litany of issues, including the
economic crisis, FDI, Assam riots, collapse of three national power
  grids and the prevailing drought situation in the country when the
monsoon session of Parliament gets under way from August 8.
  Their leaders gave an indication to this effect at an all-party
meeting called by speaker Meira kumar on Monday.
  At Monday's meeting, home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde had his first
official interaction with the opposition. when the Speaker introduced
 Shine as the the leader of the House, Swaraj said his" perpetual
smile" was disarming. Shinde thanked Swaraj and said the opposition
should
  let his smile remain for next two years of the

(9)Following a meeting with Connaught place traders and restoration
consultant Engineers India  Limited on Wednesday, officials of New
   Delhi Municipal Council decided to continue block-wise the
much-delayed restoration work. At the meeting, NDMC officials also
promised
 to redo the wide footpath that was hampering vehicular movement in
the Middle Circle. They agreed to break down the existing structure
and
  reconstruct it.

(10)Shoppers will soon have more parking space in outer circle of
Connought Place. The New Delhi Municipal Council(NDMC) has agreed to
reduce
   the width of the proposed pavements on both sides of the road in
the outer circles so that more parking space could be left for
vehicles.
      In Monday's meeting, the traders also requested  the NDMC
officials to cancel the plan to build seating plazas in the outer
circles similar
